Standard Elevator Rope

Short Description:

Hoisting Ropes With the advent of high-rise elevators and the increased speed of automobiles, elevator designers and manufacturers often opt for higher-strength hoisting ropes. The grade of steel (traction, ultra-high-strength traction) depends on many factors, the most critical being load requirements and vehicle speed. It is not always beneficial to use an EHS leash with sufficient traction. Low carbon steel wire used on traction grade wire ropes can provide better fatigue life than high carbon EHS steel wire.

Hoist Ropes

With the advent of high rise elevators and increased car speeds, elevator designers and manufacturers frequently select a higher strength hoist rope.  The grade of steel (traction, extra high strength traction) is dependent upon many factors, the most critical being load requirement and car speed. It is not always advantageous to use an EHS traction rope where traction will suffice. The low carbon wire used on traction grade wire ropes may provide better fatigue life than a higher carbon EHS wire.

Drum and Counterweight

Ropes

Use 8×19 Seale traction steel ropes for most drum and counterweight ropes. If the drum and sheave material of the existing elevator is softer than that required for traction steel, the use of iron ropes may be considered.

Compensating Ropes

8×25 Filler Wire traction steel ropes provide longer and more economical service. For existing installations that require iron, WW suggests 8×25 Filler Wire.

Governor Ropes

Use an 8-strand traction steel governor rope for longer service life, unless iron is specified. Make sure replacement governor ropes are in accordance with the elevator manufacturer’s specifications.

Steel Chemistry:

A combination of steel grades is used and heat treatment processes to manufacture soft, medium and hard tensile grades. The table below is indicative only of steel chemistries used.

Tensile Grade % Carbon % Phosphorus % Manganese % Silicon % Sulphur
Standard 0.45~0.50 0.032 0.5 ~1.00 0.10~0.34 0.041
High 0.59~0.63 0.035 0.5 ~1.10 0.10~0.35 0.045
Extra-High 0.65~0.83 0.035 0.5 ~1.10 0.10~0.35 0.045

Quality Control:

We use total quality control system. Every pieces of the raw material; semi-finished products and finished products are tested and recorded in file. The tracking record is used from final products to the very first beginning raw material steel factories.

Third Part like SGS is available for test control before shipment.

Packing:
1) All the products are packed with seaworthy packing.
2) Customer’s special requirement for packing can be satisfied.
3) Air freight; sea freight and truck freight are all available.

Craft:
The wire rope structure is 8*19S+NF, and the wire rope specification is 13mm. If it is an elevator rope, it must implement the elevator wire rope standard GB8903-2005. If it is a mechanical rope, it needs to implement the general-purpose wire rope standard GB/T20118-2006 or the important-purpose wire rope national standard GB8918-2006 ;
The production process of the elevator rope 8*19S+NF-13mm is that first, the steel wire rope has 8 strands, 19 steel wires per share, the arrangement of the steel wires is 1+9+9, and the diameter of the steel wire rope is 13mm, so we can determine the size of the steel wire rope. The diameter of the strand is 3.47mm, the inner and outer layers of the rope are 0.85mm, the inner layer is 0.5mm, and the center wire is 1.0mm. The steel wire must meet the standard YB/T5918-2004, and the torsion and bending performance of the steel wire are required.
Development direction of elevator wire rope technology: Manganese wear-resistant phosphating coated elevator wire rope is an upgraded product of smooth elevator rope, which represents the development direction of high-performance wire rope manufacturing technology and has broad application prospects.
